Vern Betts Cricket is a very long running historic competition.  This year it is getting a facelift to meet the needs for todays sporting child.  Vern Betts cricket is now going to be played on a Friday night starting between 4-4:30.  It is going to be an 8 aside competition and is 20 overs per side.  This is a competition that is suited for children who are confident sports people and have good hand eye coordination between  Year of 6-8 (Children in the senior part of the school).  We think that a game of cricket will take about 2 and a bit hours to play.  Games will be played at different venues within South Taranaki.  This means that there will be no more Saturday morning cricket and families will get their weekends back!

We are now running a new competition for the not so confident cricketers.  At the same time we are providing an opportunity for children between Years 5-8 (9-12 Years old), to play cricket as well.  This will be a B league where more of the younger cricketers will play and some of the not so confident older cricketers.  It will run at the same time and again venues around South Taranaki.

The competition begins on the first Friday night in Week 1 Term 4. We will be running the competitions till December this year.

There is no need to worry about equipment as the school has plenty.

The competition will be run in south taranaki.
